Starting the Year of the Dragon with a Goshuincho Bukuro

A Happy New year!

At the start of the New Year, which we hoped would be a bright year, many unexpected events have occurred all over Japan. We would like to express our sympathies to those who have been affected by the disaster and to those who have suffered damage. We hope that everyone will be able to return to their normal routine soon.
This year, Himizuya will continue to push forward with even greater effort than last year. We look forward to your continued support.

Our first post for the New Year is a Goshuincho Bukuro " bag" with a 'dragon' motif for the Year of the Dragon. The front fabric here is upcycled from a shiny and firm men's traditional Hakama (trousers). This time, we decided to keep the appearance simple in order to make the lining stand out.

One thing to note is the dragon-patterned haori used for the lining. This pattern has previously been used on sukiya bukuro bags and shingenbukuro, and is decorated with a dragon and a tiger. As it is the year of the dragon, in this piece, the dragon pattern is eye-catching on the obverse side of the lid.

It is a wish that the dragon, with its powerful rising spirits, will bring luck to 2024.

More to come this year!
